Semimetallic superconductivity paper published in Nature Physics
Our study on superconductivity emerging from a strongly correlated semimetallic normal state in rhombohedral graphene was published in Nature Physics. Rhombohedral graphene has proven to be an exceptionally rich material, exhibiting new forms of magnetism, superconductivity, and topology. A unique property is that its low-energy electronic states primarily reside on its outer surfaces, with little charge in the central layers. In our work, we establish that as the layer number increases, electron- and hole-type carriers occupy both outer surfaces at the same time. Remarkably, this configuration hosts superconductivity, in which changing the hole-doping on one surface can toggle pairing of electrons on the other.
