STM study of twisted MoTe₂ published in Nature Physics
Our study of twisted MoTe₂, now published in Nature Physics, reveals atomic‑scale fingerprints of nontrivial band topology. Using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy, we mapped the moiré lattice and its energy‑resolved electronic states, then compared the data with state‑of‑the‑art theoretical predictions. The resulting images show that the wavefunction texture forms a lattice of layer‑polarization skyrmions, clarifying how band topology emerges and sets the stage for fractional quantum anomalous Hall states. Congratulations to Ellis, Toby, Florie, and all our co‑authors!
